Laurier Castle - Ottawa

Ottawa's only Mobile Four Star hotel, for years has been the away-from-home address of
presidents and other heads of state. Château Laurier reflects the confidence and dignity of a capital
city and the sophistication of its global guests. Date opened: June 1912. Last Renovation: $30
million restoration program completed in 1995. Design: the Château is built in a French Gothic
design. Construction was completed by Garth and Co of Montréal, who used granite blocks, white
Italian marble and copper for the roof. Other points of interest in the design of the hotel include:
$4.5 million worth of antiques; Travertine Marble staircase with brass railing; Czechoslovakian
crystal and several vases in the Ball Room and an art-deco pool.
